I used to live close to the Southampton Arms, one of my favorite pubs, but moved a few months ago a bit too far to be able to go there for a pint. This place has opened a bit closer to where I live, and it's almost like they've copied the Southampton Arms (which is a good thing) -- except that the piano apparently works!
They have an equally good selection of beer and cider. While I didn't try the food, it seems very similar to the Southampton Arms' food, but with a few more vegetarian options. I'm glad to see that they're expanding.
What a great pub! Fantastic selection of cask ale (8 pumps), keg ales & ciders. The small pub is beautifully layed out for conversation at the bar, and on a number of tables - tastefully decorated like a proper, traditional London pub of old - not fancy, but inviting. This is NOT really a food establishment - beer the champion, but they do have a few limited bar snacks like pasties, sausage rolls, pickled eggs, pork pies and so on - which is above the usual crisps or peanuts.
Finally visited. Absolutely fab little pub!
Fantastic range of real ales of all different abv's and types. Beautifully kept. Something for everyone.
Ciders as well.
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Very fair prices considering where it is.
Plus the best pair of vintage speakers I've ever seen in a pub! Celestion Ditton 66's! (Hi-Fi geek. Sorry!)
Whats not to like.
Recommended.
